Northwest Aviation College is located in the heart of the Puget Sound, in Auburn, WA. Just 15 south of Seattle, the school is surrounded by beautiful and rugged scenery. While flying in and around diverse terrain and varying weather, our pilots gain experience in real-world flight conditions. With such diverse flight experiences, Northwest Aviation College continues to produce highly successful graduates that have taken jobs in all areas of aviation.
Off-Campus Housing Options
Northwest Aviation College can assist students in locating off-campus housing in the Auburn area. Initially, the college can arrange students a spot at an extended stay facility near the school. Within walking distance of the facility are two grocery stores, a shopping mall, theater, etc. Bus service is available from the facility locations. After this initial arrangement, students are welcome to locate alternative housing in the form of apartments, room rentals, etc.
Things to Do
In the Seattle area, there is never a shortage of things to do. There are a number of on-going activities that take place throughout the year to keep students active. Among them are:
PROFESSIONAL SPORTS - Safeco Field hosts the Seattle Mariners baseball team and Qwest Field hosts the Seattle Seahawks for sports enthusiasts. Additionally, neighboring Kent has a successful local hockey team!
FISHING - Hundreds of lakes surround the PUget Sound allowing avid anglers a chance to not only catch salt water specialties but freshwater as well. No matter where you are, you are in close proximity to a great place to drop your lure.
HIKING - Auburn is located between the Cascade Mountain Range and the Olympic Mountains. If you love to hike or rock climb, you have an abundance of trails to choose from. You can hike the Pacific Trail which extends from Canada down to Mexico, tour the rainforest on the peninsula, or summit the many volcanoes that stretch the Cascades. Mt. Rainier is only an hour's drive and offers spectacular views and a breathtaking experience. In the winter, the Cascades offer several opportunities for snow lovers to hit the slopes and experience Northwest powder.
GET-AWAYS - The San Juan Islands are located in the Northern Puget Sound and offer an island get away with out the travel hassle. You can tour the historic sites, go kayaking in the serene Pacific waters, or enjoy a sea expedition to view majestic marine life such as the killerwhales.
NIGHT LIFE - If you're the type who likes to live the night life, many clubs and bars are scattered throughout the Sound to give you the entertainment you crave. Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle is host to some of the biggerst parties year round.
DOWNTOWN SEATTLE - Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the Space Needle marks the downtown Seattle skyline. From its observation deck, 520 feet up, you can observe the Seattle business district, take in breathtaking views of the local mountains or eat a memorable meal at its world class restaurant. The Pacific Science Center, Seattle Art Museum, and Pike Place Market are all within reach of this historic landmark.
