GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

The cost of flight training varies from school to school, nationwide. This is because aircraft leases, fuel, maintenance, and airport expenses are factored into airplane rental rates and vary greatly. Additional factors affecting rental rates are based upon the type of training offered. For example, schools utilizing a Part 141 curriculum will have greater expenses than those utilizing Part 61 curriculum due to the higher standards required of schools offering Part 141 training by the FAA. Furthermore, since a pilot certificate is issued on the basis of demonstrated proficiency rather than on hours (above minimum required by the FAA) accrued in an aircraft, cost for flight training will vary among individuals. Of course there are additional expenses for pilot supplies and equipment that also need to be considered as part of a total cost estimate. For a complete pricing estimate for your desired course of training, please contact our office to speak with one of our education advisors (253) 854-4960.

COMPARING COST

When comparing cost estimates across schools it is important to avoid comparing apples to oranges. Many flight schools will provide a cost for training without the cost of fuel, certification fees, etc. At Northwest Aviation College, estimates include a "wet cost." This cost includes the cost of fuel, plane rental, instructor service, certification fees and ground school.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT ALL AT ONCE?

Many schools and academies require students to pay for their training in advance with restricted or no ability for a refund. However, at Northwest Aviation College you can pay as you go.
